The heat exchanger is the most expensive and most important component in the furnace, and when it goes out, it is typically time for a new furnace. The fact that Armstrong provides a lifetime warranty for their heat exchangers shows a lot of confidence in their product. They can do this because the heat exchangers are made of stainless steel, not galvanized steel or aluminum like most manufacturers. I want people who choose our business to have confidence in the furnaces we install, and Armstrong provides that confidence.

SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) is the standard measure of efficiency in the US. The higher the SEER Rating, the more efficient the system. We are always trying to get you the highest SEER system for your system. There are several small often overlooked options that can increase your SEER rating, including using TXVs, installing shorter line sets, and increasing the airflow across the coil, as well as simply choosing a condenser with a higher SEER rating.

Tonnage is the same as power, in HVAC-speak. The higher the tonnage, the more BTUs per hour can be removed from your home. One ton is 12,00 BTUs/hr., a 3 ton condenser would be able to remove 36,000 BTUs of heat per hour. Condensers with higher SEER ratings tend to be larger for a given tonnage because more surface area across the coil improves the heat exchange.
